These Terms of Use apply to your use of the Gridpanions website, games, accounts, subscriptions and related services ("Gridpanions").
Gridpanions is an Australian educational service operating under the business name Gridpanions, ABN 66 552 476 125.
By using Gridpanions, creating an account or purchasing a subscription, you agree to these Terms.
1. About Gridpanions
Gridpanions is a curriculum-aligned maths games platform designed to support classroom learning, with games mapped to the Australian Curriculum v9 Mathematics strands (Number, Algebra, Measurement, Space, Statistics and Probability).
Gridpanions provides teacher-hosted games, solo practice modes, student gameplay, optional student accounts, Gridpanion collections and other educational features.
Features may differ depending on the account or subscription plan being used.
2. Teacher accounts
Teachers need an account to access teacher account features and host games.
You are responsible for:
- providing accurate account information
- keeping your login details secure
- activities carried out through your account
- using Gridpanions appropriately in your classroom or educational setting
- complying with relevant school or organisational policies.
You must not share your password with another person or knowingly allow unauthorised access to your account.
If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us.
3. Student participation
Students may be able to join a teacher-hosted game, or play a solo practice mode, without creating a Gridpanions account.
Student accounts may be created where a student wishes to use account-based features such as saving progress, earning rewards or maintaining a Gridpanion collection.
Students must use Gridpanions appropriately and must not intentionally disrupt games, impersonate another person, attempt to access another person's account or use inappropriate player or display names.
A student who creates an optional account may be offered optional profile fields, such as year level. How this information is collected and used is explained in the Gridpanions Privacy Policy.
Teachers remain responsible for supervising classroom use of Gridpanions.
4. Acceptable use
You must not use Gridpanions to:
- break any applicable law
- harass, threaten or impersonate another person
- upload, enter or communicate unlawful, offensive or harmful material
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, databases, servers or other systems
- interfere with the operation or security of Gridpanions
- deliberately exploit bugs or vulnerabilities
- use automated systems, bots or scripts to abuse the service
- introduce malware or other harmful code
- copy or reproduce Gridpanions content except as expressly permitted
- commercially resell or redistribute access to Gridpanions without permission.
We may take reasonable action to protect users and the service where these rules are breached.
5. Subscriptions and payments
Some Gridpanions features require a paid subscription or pass.
The price, billing period and features of a paid plan will be displayed before purchase.
Payments may be processed by a third-party payment provider such as Stripe.
By purchasing a recurring subscription, you authorise the applicable subscription fee to be charged at the intervals shown when you subscribe until the subscription is cancelled.
6. Cancelling a subscription
Recurring subscriptions may be cancelled using the subscription-management options provided by Gridpanions or its payment provider.
Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase, cancellation stops future renewal charges and paid access continues until the end of the period already paid for.
Cancelling a subscription does not automatically entitle you to a refund for a period already supplied simply because you have changed your mind.
Nothing in this section limits any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
7. Refunds and Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.
If Gridpanions has a major failure or otherwise fails to comply with an applicable consumer guarantee, you may be entitled to a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law.
We are not required to provide a refund solely because you changed your mind, no longer wish to use the service or forgot to cancel a subscription, except where required by law or where we choose to provide one.

8. Free accounts and paid features
We may offer both free and paid features.
The features included in each plan are those described on the Gridpanions website at the relevant time.
We may develop, improve or change Gridpanions over time.
Where a change would materially reduce a paid service during a period for which a customer has already paid, we will act reasonably and in accordance with applicable consumer law.
9. Availability
We aim to keep Gridpanions available and functioning reliably, but uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed.
Gridpanions may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, internet or hosting failures, security issues or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Where reasonably possible, we will seek to minimise disruption.
Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot be excluded under Australian law.
10. Educational use
Gridpanions is an educational resource and game platform.
Teachers and schools remain responsible for professional judgement about how Gridpanions is used, whether particular activities are appropriate for their students and how those activities fit within their teaching program.
References to curriculum content or curriculum alignment are provided to assist educators and do not replace curriculum documents, professional judgement or requirements imposed by an education authority.
11. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, Gridpanions and its original content are owned by or licensed to Gridpanions.
This includes, where applicable:
- the Gridpanions name and branding
- Gridpanion characters and artwork
- game designs and presentation
- website design
- graphics and illustrations
- written educational resources
- downloadable resources
- software and original website content.
You may use Gridpanions and resources supplied to you for their intended personal, classroom or educational use.
You must not, without permission:
- reproduce or redistribute substantial parts of Gridpanions
- sell or commercially redistribute Gridpanions resources
- publish paid resources publicly online
- copy Gridpanions games, artwork or resources for use in a competing commercial product
- remove copyright or ownership notices from resources.
Nothing in these Terms prevents uses permitted by Australian copyright law.
Curriculum material. Gridpanions displays material from the Australian Curriculum, such as achievement standards and content descriptions, which is owned by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) and used under ACARA's licence terms, and references to Queensland senior syllabuses (unit titles), which are owned by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA). That material is not owned by Gridpanions and is not covered by the restrictions above; your use of it is governed by ACARA's and QCAA's own terms.
12. Downloadable Resources
Gridpanions may provide downloadable educational resources, including worksheets, activities and other materials, as part of free or paid features.
Unless otherwise stated, downloadable resources are provided under a single-user teacher licence. The person who obtains the resource may:
- print and make copies for students they personally teach;
- display or use the resource during their own classes; and
- provide copies to their students through a private or access-controlled learning platform for educational use.
Unless permitted by law or expressly authorised by Gridpanions, downloadable resources must not be:
- shared with or distributed to other teachers or users;
- uploaded to school-wide or organisation-wide resource libraries for use by other staff;
- uploaded to public websites, social media, file-sharing services or publicly accessible learning platforms;
- resold, sublicensed or otherwise commercially distributed;
- modified and redistributed as another resource; or
- distributed with Gridpanions branding, copyright notices or other ownership information removed.
Purchasing or accessing a downloadable resource does not transfer ownership of the resource or its intellectual property rights.
Gridpanions retains all applicable copyright and intellectual property rights in its downloadable resources.
Additional licences, including school or organisation-wide licences, may be offered separately.
13. Screenshots and classroom display
Teachers and students may display Gridpanions during normal classroom use.
Reasonable screenshots may be taken for legitimate classroom, instructional or technical-support purposes.
Screenshots, game boards, artwork or other Gridpanions content must not be collected or reproduced for the purpose of creating, distributing or selling a substitute or competing version of Gridpanions.
14. Account suspension or termination
We may suspend or restrict access where reasonably necessary because of:
- serious or repeated breaches of these Terms
- fraudulent activity
- security risks
- misuse of the service
- unlawful conduct
- conduct that materially interferes with other users or Gridpanions.
Where appropriate and reasonably practicable, we will provide notice or an opportunity to resolve the issue.
Any action affecting a paid service will be subject to applicable Australian Consumer Law.
Users may stop using Gridpanions at any time.
15. Third-party services
Gridpanions relies on third-party services for functions such as hosting, authentication, database infrastructure, email delivery, security, payment processing, font delivery and (on the guest-only solo practice results screen, once live) advertising. The providers are listed in the Privacy Policy.
Use of some features may therefore involve third-party services and may also be subject to those providers' applicable terms or privacy policies.
16. Privacy
Our handling of personal information is described in the Gridpanions Privacy Policy.
By using Gridpanions, you acknowledge that information will be handled as described in that policy, subject to applicable law.
17. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gridpanions is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss resulting from circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right, guarantee, remedy or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable Australian law.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms where reasonably necessary, including to reflect changes to Gridpanions, its features, business practices or legal requirements.
The current Terms will be published on the Gridpanions website with the date of the latest update.
Where a change materially affects an existing paid subscription, we will take reasonable steps to provide notice where appropriate.
If we make a significant change to these Terms, we will post a notice via the announcement banner on the Gridpanions teacher home screen at the time of the change, in addition to updating this page.
19. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
You and Gridpanions submit to the courts and tribunals having jurisdiction under applicable Australian law.
Nothing in this section limits any rights a consumer may have regarding where a claim may lawfully be brought.
